The Fix

Dollhouse was a pretty good show to me, just a little disappointed that it was canned.
Thanks in part to my forgetfulness to shut off my alarm last night, I was awoken at a cheery 4:30 this morning. Yes I've woken up on the one day a week I do not need to be up early on! Since then I've been wandering the internet, just trying to make sense of life and the world I suppose. I failed on both counts, but I did manage to fix up and reduce the number of labels/tags! You know... the things at the bottom of each post that kind of tells you what's what in the post that sits above it?

Now that I am thinking about that, I can't really believe I spent any amount of time doing that. Then again, it was bothering me that I have accumulated so many extra tags that I was meaning to get rid of them...

Netflix has been my television god in many ways, showing me all that I have been missing these past 4-5 years or so. The latest shows that we've been watching were Dollhouse (pictured above) and Mythbusters (pictured below). Both shows have been fun to watch and it makes me wonder what else on TV are we actually missing out on?

They break myths, then they blow stuff up. What's not to like about that?
But backing things up a bit here, Dollhouse originally caught my attention because of who wrote and directed this (Joss Whedon). I was curious to see what else this guy came up with, since I really actually liked his take on the X-Men (Astonishing X-Men is still one of my favorite comic book reads). Needless to say, yet I'll say it anyway, I enjoyed what I saw.

It was a interesting concept, to take a person and remove their memories and basically their personality. In it's place, a person could rewrite and make this "doll" into whatever he or she desired. In the case of this show, wealthy people would hire these dolls for various reasons (their own personal pleasures, protection, infiltration and in one instance, even relive moments that never happened in their lives).

And I admire the show for not becoming trashy, considering how easily this could have just devolved into nothing more then watching a show about sex toys. It especially becomes something more once the main character, Echo, begins to shows signs that even while they remove the personality they imprint into her, she begins to retain more and more from each and every imprint she gets.

Ultimately though, as stated above, I am disappointed to have learned that the show was canceled and the final episodes aired back in January of 2010. Boo!

Onto Mythbusters!

The show is just flat out fun to watch and these guys have a crazy, near mad scientist like mind for science and destruction. It is interesting to see the processes these guys go through, to try and find the truth behind popular sayings, theories and the like.

I think my favorite episode so far deals with duct tape and how these guys managed to craft a vessel almost completely out of said tape (the exception to this being the metal frame). And the crazy thing about this is the boat actually sailed! I almost want to try and make my own...

Oh and one last note, today is Monday, Jaunary 10th, 2011. Looking for Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded? I'll just say Wal-Mart.... who knew these folks let games out early? Huh...
