Weeds, Wolverine and a Spinning Bird kick!

Well I think I've slept enough to where I won't have to resort to posting about non-porn movies now. Instead I'll just write about other movies...!

Consider this post a mixed bag of all kinds of stuff because there are more then a few things I've got in my mind today.

For starters, we spent Thursday at Koko Marina, which was a damn long bus ride from town! We went there for some crepes (which we had heard was good, wish I could remember the name of the shop), which actually did turn out pretty okay. I guess the main source of my disappointment was from the fact that I was expecting something... different...

It was basically like a pancake with ice cream, chocolate and whipped cream on top of it. I thought these things were supposed to be wraps or cones or something?

Then we went to see the movie "Push," which I actually liked better then "Jumper" (which Push was compared with quite a lot in the reviews I read). Again though, one thing that this movie did, like Jumper, was it seemed like it was setting itself up for a sequel.

Can't movies just be stand alone anymore? Do we really need to have a part 2, 3, 4 and 5 for everything?

I am curious to see how the new Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li plays out. I wonder how much of the games are actually in the movies? I mean does Chun-Li do her Lightning Kick? Spinning bird kick? Her fireball (I think I saw that one in the trailer)?

All in all though, it looks interesting from the previews, though I know that's the entire point of watching trailers and previews. So interest, yes and I'll leave this one at that.

It is safe to say that the same logic goes for X-Men Origins: Wolverine as well. It sure looks interesting in the previews and all, but I wonder if it can excede the train wreck that was the X-Men trilogy? I surely hope so...

Here something else I'd like the admit: I've started to watch the show "Weeds." By start, I mean I picked up the first season. My thoughts? I'm actually liking it, I mean it is totally different then anything I'd usually watch. And considering the show is up to it's third season on DVD already, I guess that could keep me busy for a while.

Or maybe Blue Dragon Plus could. Like so many things in this writing, it looks so very interesting to me. Maybe someday though...

And then the bombshell! What the hell? Suikoden is on the Playstation Network!? And what is this? So is Wild Arms!?? What sort of madness is this! Goddamn it! I need a PS3! (Sure sounds smarter then paying someone $100+ for the original Suikoden).

One last thing before I stop my insanity: Strangeness here folks... Apparently, while Final Fantasy XIII has no release date, Best Buy is saying Final Fantasy Verses XIII will come out in December of this year? I don't remember reading anything saying that game leap frogged over XIII itself.

Wonder if that's true...?

Sure Makes Sense to Me... (Not really)

Why in the world have I decided to write about the porn movie that has a non-porn version? And why am I writing about the non-porn version to begin with? Both of those are very good questions which I have no answers for at this time. I am feeling a bit tired and I should probably be asleep right now, but hell... this compelled me to write!

I mean, it's a porno that has none of THAT going on! Well, at least that's how it's going in the Rated R version at least. It's like taking an action movie and cutting out all of the action. What are you left with? Not a damn thing really...

I'll admit it, I've watched the Rated R version of the first Pirates, as well as the uncut version too. Which did I prefer? Do we really need to go here? That one should be obvious, I'd like the think. Now would I waste any time or money on part 2? Not for a cut up movie, nope. Really, why spend money on something that was meant to be more? Hell, I won't even buy a music CD that is edited. To me that would be a waste of money because now I'm paying for less.

Does that make any sense?

Now I can only imagine why there would even be an attempt at having both a Rated R and X version for a porn. Ok, first thought that comes to mind is just to reap in more cash. Obvious one there huh? On the other hand, I don't think they would release a lighter version for people who are easily offended? Nah, it couldn't be because a person is offended by full nudity and the like. I mean it's a porn movie for crying out loud! If such things offend, he/she/it would not be watching such a thing in the first place right?

But I suppose the concept must have worked out or else there would not be a second go at releasing both versions. Pretty much the only reason why I'd even try to watch part 2 now is for the fact that my favorite "actress" is in the film (Jenna Haze, pictured below).

And now, before I manage to bury myself with any other incriminating words and pictures, I guess I'll end this short little writing. Wait a second... holy irony! In a completely useless fact in relation to this blog entry, I just realized something. I just wrote a blog about a porno that shows no actual sex and here I am writing about it without a single boob exposed nor any excess of skin to be seen!

I guess I'm out of room to complain! Doh!

Battle the World

So I've been playing Street Fighter 4 for the past two days and I've racked up a mere 15 ranked matches. Of that, I've won a grand total of 3 matches! Goes to show who plays fighting games huh?

Even with the losses though, I am still enjoying the game even though the AI can be a cheap son of a bitch at times (Seth sucks!). I've even encountered people online you seem to know a total of 2-3 moves and that is everything they will do! No extra punches or kicks here folks, just strictly what they know.

Surprisingly for me, I've actually taken a stronger liking to Ken this time around, rather then Ryu. I beat Seth for the first time thanks to him, so I've been playing more of 'em then I would usually.

What I like more about Street Fighter over, say, a game like Mortal Kombat is the attention to what counts: The fighting game itself. None of that crap like chest and kart racing here. Just pure beat downs, the way I remember it back when I was a kid.

On a happy closing note here, I am so very happy that Rebirth (vol. 22) has at last been released! It's been over a year since the last book and god, this one is like a double book! Twice the goodness!

Sadly however, I read through the damned thing so fast that I dread to think the next book won't be out for another year+ again. It's finally down to the wire! Desh faces off against the woman he loved so dearly, Lilith! But this ain't gonna be no lovey dovey picnic! Oh hell nope... I get the feeling it's going to be a fight and hopefully a revelation as to why she sided with Kalutika!

Yes, yes... I am a dork, a loyal dork who's been obsessed with this seires for a number of years already. After all of that time and money, for the love of god, I want to know how this shit ends! And if this ends like Ranma 1/2, I swear... I'm gonna go apeshit crazy!

Holy Insanity Batman!

So I was really considering on getting Street Fighter 4 and I honestly thought the limited edition sounded like a decent bundle of stuff.

Well wouldn't you know it? That shit is sold out and it has all but disappeared from GameStop's website. I did manage to find it at Amazon, but a price jump from $79 to $140 (that isn't a typo folks) is just pure stupid.

I've heard Best Buy has sold out on this too, but I've found otherwise and they have not gone crazy on their pricing just yet. I hope they don't either!

I'm hoping I do not have to order this thing online, as getting stuff in the mail like this just drives me crazy. But what choice would I have if it isn't available here? Yes, yes... I could get just the game.

At the end of the day and this is a wonder that has been crossing my mind as of late: Am I really a sucker for hype? I'm fearing the answer might just be a resounding...

Yes...

Doh...

The Missing Link!

Well, I guess it was going just a little too good for it to have lasted the entire run. Yes, I missed writing yesterday, which officially brings to an end my attempt at writing everyday of this month. In a way though, it is a good thing for me because I don't think my brain could keep up with that sort of a pace.

And personally, I am just dragging my feet and just dying to get through this week. I don't really know why, I mean things haven't been bad or anything. It's just this feeling I've had lately, like I'm just "going through the motions" so to speak.

I picked up Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 today for dirt cheap ($29). Scratch that, I picked up Blue Dragon (again) for dirt cheap ($14). I am determined to finish off Blue Dragon, as well as C&C too.

I must be a sucker for hype, because everything I see a promo video for Halo Wars, I get that jittery feeling like I HAVE to play the damn game. As a matter of fact, I am still playing the demo for it.

Street Fighter 4 is looking fairly interesting as well.

And what is this I hear? Nintendo's DSi will be region coded? Wow, I really didn't even realize the DS was region free...

All of this uncovered mysteries solved because I bought my girlfriend this Japanese taiko game that she has been wanting for months now (I'd love to share the name with the world, but I cannot read Japanese for the life of me! And I've worked in a Japanese grocery store for 2 years!).

Ok that last statement isn't entirely true, about me not being able to read Japanese. Ok, I can't read it, but I at least know what I'm stocking at work (kuromame, natto, kurome, yuzu, sato, azuki, edamame, okonomiyaki, etc). But beyond that? I mean actually reading the characters and stuff... yeah, nope!

Just watched a movie by the name of Butterfly Lovers, a Chinese take on the classic Romeo & Juliet storyline. It isn't that tied to it, but the ultimate outcome is the same. And even while having saw Romeo & Juliet in several different forms, this movie is still a sad one folks. Worth seeing it if you come across it!

Speaking of Asian movies, I've been sort of checking out the Death Note movies. Looked interesting to me. Same goes for Azumi 2, though I know that has been out for quite a while already.

One more note of interest on my part, I've also wanting to see that new movie "Push." Hell, since I've gone this far with stuff I'd like to watch, I've been also wanting to see Afro Samurai. It looks/sounds interesting as well.

It's a wonder how I don't spend my entire lifetime just sitting around, watching movies all day and night.

CIMA, WWE Bound?!

Once again, fearing that I would not be able to meet my own personally issued challenge, another topic of interest has appeared to save me!

And continuing on the topic of professional wrestling, this one is big time news (especially if you follow Japanese wrestling).

CIMA (pictured, red and black trunks), former champion and "Ace" (top guy) of Dragon Gate wrestling, disappeared after having his return match for the Dragon Gate promotion back in December of last year.

Apparently CIMA disappeared without a trace and as such, his faction Typhoon, disbanded after they lost a unit banishment match.

While all of this was happening, people wondered where did their beloved CIMA go?

That question was answered as it has been reported that CIMA competed in a dark match (un-televised match) on WWE Smackdown! recently.

My wonder is this: Does this mean CIMA is trying to invade the US? Granted, he has wrestled in the USA before. But never (as far as I know) has he come to the US while not under the Dragon Gate banner.

Then again, who's to say that CIMA is really gone from Dragon Gate? And as I've come to know, guys that leave Japan tend to eventually return home for good. I suppose it goes along with the countless others who've gone to Japan to gain more experience.

In any event, wow... I wonder what my co-worker/friend must think about this? He is a diehard Dragon Gate fan, as well as a CIMA fan to boot.

Things sure are getting interesting in the overall world that is professional wrestling folks.

Christian Returns to ECW!

I was worried I would end up with nothing to write about tonight, but to my salvation came a subject. Not just any subject, but a little something that happened tonight over in the world of professional wrestling. I don't write about that as much anymore because frankly, there just isn't anything really to talk/write about.

Ok, I did miss the chance to write about Jeff Hardy finally winning the WWE Championship. Or did I? Wow, talk about short term memory...

Anyway, tonight marked the return (finally!) of Christian, formerly known as Christian Cage in TNA. He joins the very small list of guys who jumped from WWE to TNA, back over to WWE. And of all places he ended up, Christian ended his 3 year absence by returning to the Land of Extreme, ECW.

I wonder though, how long will the WWE keep Christian in ECW? Perhaps a similar stay like what Matt Hardy had up until recently? If that ends up being so, then there is no doubt in my mind that we will be seeing Christian as ECW Champion before long.

But from then on, the sky is truly the limit and who knows? Maybe things will end up as some had been talking about: He'll go to Smackdown! and jump in on the story between Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and Christian's former tag team partner and "brother," Edge.

Oh man, wouldn't that be the story of all stories? The tag teams that help put each other on the map, broken down to singles wrestlers and back together again in a whole new, yet entirely familiar feud?

I'd watch that...

Words from a Decaying Mind

So at last I am truly trying to go for it here, no more backing out and ducking the challenge. My goal this month? To try and write a blog, everyday this month.

And after only nine posts, my brain is farting worse then an old folk after eating prunes, forgetting about it, then eating to rest of the bag just because.

Did that go a little too far?

Anyway, I felt the urge to post this picture because I thought it funny how "Lara Croft" here has fallen so far as she now has to sell phones to make ends meet. I guess with the sagging economy and all, tomb raiding just isn't the business it used to be huh?

I'm a little surprised there wasn't a Special Edition Halo 3 phone or something, back when the game came out and had a ton of limited edition stuff all over the place.

But wait! There is always Halo Wars to remedy that little hiccup! I'm totally going to buy the phone if/when it happens...

Another thing I've noticed and it never really occurred to me until the other day when I was browsing (again) through GameStop's website. A lot of these big time releases are getting let out with just the game and these limited edition ones that cost $80! I was looking at Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil 5 and even Halo Wars and they all had their limited edition box sets or whatever they are called.

I remember reading a while back about how this would be the way of the future, considering if these more expensive packages actually sold well. I guess this is a sign that those packs did pretty good.

Oh well, I am losing my mind today and I still have to go to work. Oh happy days are here again! Maybe by tonight, the damage will be done and you will find me in a coconut tree down at the beach.

Stinger is Still the Champ

It is amazing to me how Sting is still wrestling, even after all these years later. I thought he was done for good after WCW closed up shop, but to my surprise he reappeared in TNA.

But maybe I shouldn't be that surprised though? I mean guys like Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair stayed in wrestling longer then a lot of people seemed to have cared for (that applies maybe more to Hogan then Flair).

But what does really amaze me is the fact that he is TNA's World Heavyweight Champion right now. Not just that, but a defending champ who is supposed to be a bad guy right now. Usually the bad guys try to do everything in their power to duck out of having to defend whomever the top good guy is.

But not Sting.

Which leads me to wonder... with what happened at Against All Odds tonight, maybe Sting isn't that tight with the Main Even Mafia as the faction would like the world to believe? And maybe this will be yet another company that had to find out how you just cannot turn the man called Sting into a bad guy?

It is/was too bad Sting never made the jump to WWE after WCW's closure. I could just imagine the matches against guys like Shawn Michaels or hell, even a rematch with his old nemesis Ric Flair.

Oh to dream...

Fanboys

So there I was, browsing around the Internet on a cool, quiet Saturday morning. Unsuspecting you may say, naive as a child. Say what you will, but I was really just minding my own business this morning, not looking for any trouble of any sort. Then out of nowhere, BAM! A YouTube video charges from the darkness of the early morning and ambushes me with it's ghoulish ways!

Fear stricken, life flashing away before my eyes... I can only wonder if I will ever see another tomorrow. Does my life really end today? Is this how it all goes down, in a heap of sobs and runny noses?

My fears are confirmed, as my attack wastes no time in resorting to threats. And not just any old threats, mind you. No, this is a YouTube video we're talking about here folks! It does not threaten unless it threatens extreme bodily harm! Wholly unspeakable pains which could break the mind and soul of even the most stalwart of men.

And what can I say to stuff like that?!! What could a mere mortal possibly do to escape such an impending doom! I could only panic for ended up being the last few, precious moments of my life. And of all things else I could have done, I gave myself a moment to reflect on my life ending crisis. The last thought that crosses my mind you wonder...?

'Hey, Kristen Bell is in that movie..."

DEAD, GAME OVER... Whoops!

All of that drama just to post a YouTube video and not just any ordinary one either! It's a video with Kristen Bell! I loved her in Heroes and she was pretty good in Forgetting Sarah Marshall too.

Halo Wars

After playing through both of the demo missions, plus numerous rounds of Skirmishes, I can honestly say that I walked away from the newly released Halo Wars demo a believer. I believe this will be a good, no... great game that, to my surprise, actually controls better then the past several attempts made by EA to bring the Command & Conquer series to the consoles.

From what I've seen from playing both the Covenant and the Earth people (their official name absolutely escapes my brain right now), I'd have to give the edge to the humans. Well, maybe it's more the fact that I enjoyed playing the humans over the Covenant.

One difference that stands out to me is the sizes of the multi-player maps. Only 1v1, 2v2 & 3v3 are available, though I suppose it does keep the battles in perspective. One other notable absence is that of the Flood. Didn't those walking bags of pus not show up before the actual Halo series began? Hmm... maybe that could actually be the case?

One notable appearance is made by the ODST units, which is the subject of the upcoming Halo 3 expansion. In Halo Wars, they are the upgraded version of the standard Marine unit. How do they stack up? Hell if I know! My trio of Spartan soldiers were destroying the shit out of everything in sight!

So in closing, it is slowly turning into Christmas Round 2 for me as the games begin to roll back out again. And thanks to this goddamn demo, Halo Wars now joins the list right along side Street Fighter 4 in the "Strongly Considering on Buying" list.

I don't think my brain (or my wallet for that matter) can handle another round. Wasn't Christmas bad enough?!

Street Fighter 4

I remember reading about Street Fighter 4, thinking how it'll be a very long time before that one ever sees the light of day. Fast forward to the present, the game is coming out in little over a week already!

It has been a long time since I've really played any of the Street Fighter games and truth be told, I actually like the Alpha series better for a while (before they started throwing in more and more characters into it). As far as the main series goes, the last time I put any time into one of 'em was way back in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

Good god I feel old...

It is good to see the main staples of the game returning, though I kind of wish Capcom followed a little to what the makers of Tekken did. By that I mean show some age in the characters, just to show that the story is indeed moving forward rather then just being stuck in one time period.

On the other hand, after reading the stories behind each of the fighters, it would seem the overall story itself has moved on at the very least. I still think it amazing how no one has at all changed any of their clothes in the past 10+ years...

Maybe they have some... I don't know... attachment issues maybe?

I'm also liking the new art style, which I'm glad they've gone with because some of the previous games (namely those under the Street Fighter 3 series) looked bulky and just not very clean? I don't know how to exactly word what I'm thinking right now.

Anyway, still can't wait to try this one out and see what has and has not changed over the years.

Hand Held Madness!

After giving a look at what's to come for the hand held gaming this year, man... it feels like the Christmas season is rolling right back in the door all over again.

Topping the list for me is Prinny: Can I really be the Hero?, which actually looks pretty good to me. What makes it so much more attractive to me is the fact that it's finally a Disgaea game that isn't just another entry into the series.

And call me crazy, but I am assuming that the Prinny pictured to the left here is the main character. Notice something though? What is with that scarf around it's neck? Could it actually be Laharl...?

A better picture for the sake of this thought would be the one below. The only reason I have the picture at the top was because it tied into what I was writing today!

Sorry, I my brain is a little warped today.

Next one up is DJ Max Fever, which looks and sounds interesting to me. Outside of Rock Band though, I don't really stray into the land of Music games. Nothing against them, it is just that those types of games weren't ever really something I was that interested in.

And for the love of humanity, don't let me get near a drum set for Rock Band. I can't play that thing even if my life depeneded on it. I am just THAT DAMN BAD at it!

Getting back on track here, RPGs are getting a lot of love on the hand helds I've been seeing. Games of note include Blue Dragon Plus, Dragon Quest V, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Suikoden Tierkeis.

Of the games listed there, I am most hopeful for Suikoden Tierkeis at this point in time. In my opinion, that series lost it's way after the second game and it just never recaptured the sense of adventure and feeling that the original and second games had.

I am hoping that this release for the DS
reaches back to it's past, rather then boosting up graphics and having empty towns and boring fights.

One last game I'll mention here and I am almost ashamed to even say this, but the last game I'll mention is
Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. It is a game that I've been looking at for a while now and it actually does look interesting to me.

Now I haven't played a Pokemon game in quite a few years, the last time being when Pokemon Colosseum was released for the Gamecube. And even then, it was not something I had picked up myself and so my time playing was limited.

Thinking back to that game, it actually reminded me of the Suikoden series. It reminded me of it because the towns, hell the entire game itself really, felt soulless and just really bland to me. Just thinking about it makes me happy that I can still play games like Chrono Trigger, which reminds me of the good ol' days...

War Against the Horde

Today is the first time I've actually gotten to try out playing the "Horde" mode online in Gears of War 2. It is fun, certainly a different experience rather then just playing it offline. Life is a little easier when you've got five guns shooting, rather then just you alone or with a friend (or in my case, my girlfriend).

Overall though, it is definitely a work in progress at this point. The furthest we've made it online is level 8 (level 12 offline). The insanity that ensues when one reaches the 9th and 10th level is just, well... insane!

On the other hand, I do have to get back into playing more of Fallout 3. I think this time, unlike how I played things in Fable 2, I won't be the good "saint" of a character. No, this time I think I'll try it on the dark side, I mean I already started out by killing Aneta's Overseeing father after all.

How was I to know I -didn't- have to kill his ass? He did have a gun...

One more thought! We watched "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" tonight and it was good fun. A little strange maybe, but it was fun movie to watch overall. Bill Murray is awesome!

Ok, ok... now it's time to go back to the post-apocalyptic "future" and be a prick the world never knew it needed. Fun for all, no doubt.

Here is a little after thought, which I forgot to mention when I wrote up this little post earlier. I've gotten onto Twitter the other day and the entire concept of it seems to be lost to me at this point. It does seem interesting though, so maybe I'll hang around and just keep typing stuff in every now and again.

Who knows, maybe some day someone will respond?

Quick Thoughts Tonight

I really don't have any excuses left as to why I haven't been writing more. Chalk it up to laziness, a force so powerful that I do not have the willpower to overcome it. I don't even work as much anymore and I still can't get myself to do more writing.

Even while I don't work as much, I am still hanging onto two jobs. It's just that my second job, which I thought would have been my present day savior, ended up not being what I had hoped it would be. Yuck...

Anyway, I downloaded the demo for Resident Evil 5 a short time ago and only came to play it this morning. I would like to say that I got through it without a hitch, but that would be an outright lie. I was promptly destroyed by that giant mountain of a beast with an equally large axe.

It does seem like an interesting game, perhaps it will be a future rental down the line.

Another interesting thing for me was being able to finally see the trailer video for Final Fantasy XIII. While it was mostly in Japanese, I will say that the game still does look pretty damn good. But what bugs me is the lack of an absolute date as to when it will finally be released here in the States.

I am still debating if it would be wiser (and better looking) to play this game on the Xbox 360 or if investing into a PS3 would be better.

Honestly, two games I'd love to play are Little Big Planet and Ratchet & Clank. Resistance looks kind of cool too. One wonder though, is Resistance the PS3's equivalent for Gears of War?

I rented and have been playing Fallout 3, which I like more then I did Oblivion. Funny and equally sad note: After escaping Vault 101, I ran into a kid who led me to an infestation of fucking ants that breath fire! Thanks, thanks a lot kid... I'll kill your ass someday...

One last thought: I've hit 250 posts! That is a heck of a mile stone, considering I thought I would have quit writing after the first 100. Yes I know it is a little silly to make any sort of deal out of something like this, but I'd be damned. I am still going! I wholly intend on continuing my writing for as long as I possibly can.

I think I enjoy it a little too much to just drop it like a bad habit.

Ouch

The Super Bowl might be tomorrow, but the other huge event in sports has got to have been the UFC fight pitting BJ Penn against George St. Pierre. And in thanks to the fact that BJ Penn is from Hawaii (Hilo, Hawaii), it's been hyped for the past few weeks all over the place.

Needless to say, I was pulling for Penn to secure the victory tonight. I sided that way not because of the fact that he is from Hawaii, but more the fact that I think GSP sounded like an overconfident prick.

And in the end, how did it all pan out? GSP won via TKO in the 4th round.

When I read the news (my girlfriend, who predicted GSP winning by TKO in the 3rd) sent me a text to inform me at work. How else could I put this? I was simply CRUSHED. On the flip side, however, I am glad I did not bet any money on the outcome...

Last little sports thought here, man the Super Bowl was an interesting game! Although admittingly, I did only catch bascially the ending of the fourth quarter. Still, there was a good deal of suspense and never before have I bore witness to an actual public crowding around a store's TV section.

It is too bad that the game didn't end up going into overtime. Then again, I suppose that could have been too much for some people to handle. Still, perhaps that would have given the Cardinals the opportunity they needed to turn the tides back to their favor?

Oh well. Maybe they'll get another chance next year or was this year their first and last for a long while?
