2011, Looking Forward

I was optimistic that 2011 would start off better for me then things were a year ago to the day. But it would seem that sort of thinking isn't quite right and things haven't exactly been heaven so far. I guess I really don't have a lot to complain about, all things considered. But I had hoped for a better starting situation in 2011 then I am getting to right now and that thought is driving me crazy.

Maybe not that crazy, but crazy enough that I am actually drinking for the first time in my life.

Wait, no... no that did not even come out the way that I wanted that to. I am actually just trying out a little drink my girlfriend and I picked up for our little stay at home over the new year weekend. She had one and turned bright red and I didn't touch it because I really just don't drink alcohol at all.

I guess today would effectively break that little hold out of mine. And our choice of beverage isn't anything all that extreme, just something called Smirnoff Blueberry & Lemonade. It actually does taste like lemonade, just a bit more tart then the normal fare. I assume that would be the alcohol in it?

As for how I'm feeling? Meh, I guess I feel a little better at the moment. I feel a little happier I suppose? Or maybe that is because I have a day off today? I think it is safe to say that it could just be a combination of the pair, which does make sense to me. I think.

Anyway, I kind of went on a game buying frenzy over this holiday season, mostly PC games off of Steam. Now I've had that program on this computer for a little while, but never actually made it a point to purchase and play anything off of it. But now that that has changed, I am surprised at just how cheap the games were on that service.

Topping off my short list is a game called King's Bounty Armored Princess.

I wanted to find a RPG to play and I was a little desperate to find something that could hold my attention and would actually be fun to play. I still cannot believe how rare that combination is nowadays, but I'll save that thought for another day. Anyway, AP is actually pretty fun to play or at least the demo of the game was. I haven't gotten all that far into the actual game, but it seems fairly interesting to me thus far.

Second game that I picked up from Steam was Command and Conquer 3, which I was still bitter about after trying to play both it and it's expansion on Xbox back when I first picked up the console. Now that I have it on PC, you know what? I am actually enjoying the game much, much more then I ever did on the console. I just feel like RTS games belong on PC, they just control and play out that much better in my honest opinion.

Last thing I want to write about is Enslaved, which I rented for the Xbox 360. I had some interest in this game a while back, but a lot of reviews and just the opinions out there seemed to put this game down as a bad piece of work. And for all I know, maybe it is?

But truthfully, I am enjoying what little I've played of the game so far and it plays smoothly. Movement is easy and flowing and the combat isn't all that bad from what I've seen thus far. What I am also liking about this is the pairing of Monkey and Trip (unique choice of names). Despite the fact that Trip has enslaved Monkey with that crown on his head, the pair's odd relationship feels rather natural. I suppose Monkey had better care about Trip's well being, considering if she dies then he does as well.

Well enough out of me, for now anyway...
