Losing My Mind

Even while I sit here, being frustrated about nothing in particular, I realize that the issue with which I wrote about might offend someone. Or maybe my opinion on the matter would In any case, offended anyone was not the intention for that writing.

The point I am trying to express is simply my disgust at how quickly people flip over. In my eyes, it seems to me like people said fuck him while he was alive and now we'll all cry when he is gone. Why? Why do that now?

As far as the news stations are concerned, yes I understand it is all about ratings and money. And this issue will certain garner quite a bit of all of that in the coming days, weeks and months. I surely hope it does not end up being years too...

Actually, I think you wrote your previous post honestly and not offensively. :) Everyone is entitled to their opinions last time I checked. This is what makes the US a great place to live, for the most part.

I, too, hate that people are so easily swayed. But like I said before, it's easy for the media to manipulate them. You know, there are people who believe everything they hear on the news. No question. They don't think for themselves. When all is said and done, those people scare me more than any other threat to humanity in the world. Really.

I don't think I quite got across what I was trying to say. That is what I get for trying to write something like this while not all that clear minded.

Now I don't mean to try and downplay his death, I wholly agree that he and his music forever left their mark on the world.

But the way the media is using this is just pissing me off. I mean do we really need to listen to 'experts' to tell us about the meaning of his music?

Its like dying isn't enough, but really only the beginning of everything. Now his death will be exploited to no end and he'll be joining a growing list of people who ends up making an ass load more money dead then alive.

Its sickening in a way, I mean just let his music live on and let the man rest in peace! But I guess that is just the way it is these days.

While I agree with you that it is good for the world to forget its troubles sometimes, but with these times it can be a bad mistake to turn away.

I've been trying to keep up with the news with as many different sources as I can manage and the stuff going on in the world is just insane.

Now we've got not just North Korea just itching for a reason to fight, but now Iran is starting to make similar threats as well. It sounds to me like we are on an inevitable course towards another world war.

I'm starting to think I was better off just not bothering to know...

Sorry, got carried away this time!

North Korea would be insane to actually do what they threaten. They don't have the resources and our military would thwart them. China helped them during the Korean War, but they need the US as a commerce and trade ally too much to risk severing ties with the US. N. Korea is like a bratty child with a dangerous toy. They'll threaten to use it to see how far they can push the US, but the chances of them ACTUALLY pushing too far are slim.

Again, the media is trying to scare us. Not that North Korea isn't dangerous. They are a threat. But the media is again twisting the facts. They don't have the means to successfully reach us, but North Korea wants us to buy into that fear that the media is driving into us. This will force the rest of the world to give North Korea the attention that it wants. It can't even keep its own people fed. They can't afford to start a war against the US. Iran doesn't have the resources, either. They're trying to provoke us. That's why Obama isn't taking the bait. And it's making Iran mad. So Iran is lashing out, making threats that it can't really do.

While both countries might just be barking, I hope no one underestimates anyone these days. Hell, just look at Iraq.

From a military standpoint, the US is head and shoulders above those they were fighting against. And while the US military has made a good deal of progress, look at how long the battles have been going on.

From a firepower point of view, the US could school Iraq right now if they so desired. However, it's not possible to just go in guns blazing like people could oh 50 years ago. Sometimes I wish we could.

I, too, hope that no one is underestimating anyone. But I refuse to wallow about it. Not much we can do over here, you know? ;-)
