Everything It Should Be

WWE '12 is shaping up to be a very good game or at least that is the way things are sounding this year. It has been a crazy trend with this series, the way things have worked themselves out. Generally new ideas are shit the first year they debut, but the second year things pan out and actually work worlds better then they originally did.

Now from what I've been reading, the WWE Universe 2.0 mode sounds like just about everything the original was not. Open, more options and a lot more attention geared to make it look and feel as though you were playing what you see on TV every week. I'm also liking the fact that you could actually "injure" a superstar, which will take them out of action as far as the WWE Universe mode is concerned.

Big change that I like is the ability to be able to put together matches for championships, which was not possible in last year's game. It was very annoying to build up someone you want to push towards a title reign, only for the game itself to decide it wants someone completely different in the title picture instead. That brings back memories of trying to push Brie Bella for the Divas Championship and Yoshi Tatsu for the United States Championship. Both were pushing up to #1 Contender status, but both ended up sitting out most Pay-Per-Views and generally never got the title shots that they earned.

Another big change that caught my attention is the ability to replace either Raw or Smackdown with a custom show of your own. You can set the default championships for the brand, make up your own ring and who knows what else. I'm afraid this falls into what I said earlier, in that this feature will probably be a lot better off next year. Still though, I am very interested in this...

The roster for the game this year sound amazing, as current as I think I've ever seen a roster for any wrestling game in recent history. Hell even the guys from the past is pretty good, I mean how can you go wrong with Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Legion of Doom, Shawn Michaels, Vader and the LEGENDARY Eddie Guerrero? Mix these guys in with the present day roster and this should be a hell of a game. The recently announced Divas DLC has a pretty decent line up also, which included Trish Stratus (pictured above), Kharma, Alicia Fox, Vickie Guerrero and last but certainly not least, the Bella Twins.

Last thing I will mention is the separation between exhibition and WWE Universe modes, meaning the exhibition matches won't disrupt anything in the Universe mode which is a welcomed change. If I'm not mistaken, I believe you can play title matches here once again, which was something I made a lot of use of in previous games.

All in all? I hope the changes that are being thrown out there make this game better then the last year's. From the sounds of everything, I think that much should be easy to pull off.
