The Sky's The Limit

A little more then a month away from the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and I am actually really looking forward to this game. It helps that it has a special edition that includes a dragon statue (more on dragons a little later). Like I think I've mentioned before though, I didn't fare that well in Oblivion and I actually didn't really like it all that much. Granted, it probably wasn't smart to try and steal from a knight in front of his face or rob a monk in his office with him sitting there either. But ultimately I just couldn't get into the game all that much and ultimately I gave up on it well before I ever got into that massive world.

But Skyrim looks far more promising to me then Oblivion and there are just so much to it that I want to see for myself if it is all for real or just plain hype. First and foremost, the game has bloody dragons! And not just some puny little nothing that makes weird noises and maybe breathes a little fire here and there. I mean full grown, angry as hell dragons! And a little mystery is what the main character has to do with this ever hunted race.

Also on the subject of dragons, I am really liking the idea that there is a dragon statue included in the game's special edition. My girlfriend bought me a dragon statue some years back and I've been meaning to pick up a few more to keep that one company. I think/hope this will be a nice little start to that end.

Side thought: Why can't these games allow you to tame and/or raise a dragon of your own? You know, to ride it into battle or just plain fly around for the heck of it? Orcs, trolls, goblins and entire cities be damned! Your spiffy armor won't save you from being baked alive!

Anyway...

I like the thought of being able to roam the lands and I keep hearing how the mountains you see in the backgrounds are really there. I mean they say you can actually make the trip and walk to and up these mountains! Is that even possible? I guess the days of just having a background is going away and that's cool. I kind of wish more games would/could do stuff like that...

One thing I liked/disliked about this is the guilds.

I kind of like the idea of being able to join various types of guilds, but I do wish you could actually form your own faction. Maybe something like Assassin's Creed Brotherhood? But with more freedom? So maybe that idea would present more problems then anything, but that is something I would like to see in a video game someday...

Time is counting down and the release of this monster of a game is practically upon us as it is. Still, I simply can't wait for November 11th! Dragons, magic and far away lands and adventures? What's not to like?
