One Week Away
It's always hard to believe that a game, after being hyped endlessly for months (sometimes years), is actually nearing it's release date. As a manner of curbing my overly active geekness (RPGs are one thing, but fantasy? With castles and dragons and magic and all of that good stuff? I'm practically a kid in a candy shop!) has been to tell myself the game could get delayed at the last minute.
Of course if that did happen, I may just lose my goddamn mind. I wonder if a workplace would keep in their employ a person who drools mindlessly and just mutters incoherent nothings about missed release dates and eternal gaming damnation?
So anyhow, the game in question would obviously be the famed fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series known as Skyrim, which is now about a week away from being unleashed onto the world. It also probably doesn't help my case at all that I watched a few videos that someone threw out there that actually showcases the first 20 minutes of the game. To say it does not pique my interest would be an outright lie because that damn near gave me a seizure with the amount of awesome involved in just that short span of time.
You know though, I've got to give credit to the gaming industry as far as this generation of consoles and games is concerned. Even if the game ends up being the most vilest of shits, they sure know how to build up and hype their games to look like a million bucks. Not that I'm saying Skyrim is the shits or anything like that, but in general a lot of these games are promoted pretty dang good.
If ever I want to be blown away mentally, physically and spiritually by a video game, I think this one would have to be it. Besides that, I've never really made it a secret that me and this series have never gotten along all that well and I struggled and failed to find anything of interest in Oblivion. But Skyrim? Now that looks promising and maybe, just maybe this will be the entry point into the series I've been waiting for.
11/11/11 hurry up already!
