Ugh

I hate these guys, but more on that below.
I think I probably just experienced two of the worse dragon fights imaginable this morning. The first one happened in a town who's name I can't remember. It was out there and just randomly I noticed a number of the guards drawing their bows and looking to the skies.

Uh, wonder what that could be?

So there was a dragon flying about overhead, blasting guards with it's ice breath and just having a merry old time. Me being an avid hunter of these poor creatures, I spring into action and blast it squarely with my recently unlocked fire shout which caught the dragon's attention. It took a couple of shots before it retreated onto some rocks on the outskirts of this little town. Seeing how the guards are not pursuing the dragon, I continued my chase alone as my wander companion decided against jumping into what I assume was freezing water, and opted to find a better route.

As I got to said dragon, it blasted me over and over though I did return the favor with shots of fire to it's face. Trying to jockey for a better position and perhaps get near enough to make use of my sword, I run and hop around the rocks beneath the dragon and then I get stuck.

Yes I was, in fact, stuck between a rock and a hard place...

So now the dragon is just moving about in a circle, maybe it was chasing it's tail? All I know was I felt like a goddamn idiot being the Dragonborn, the chosen one to slay these dragons, I was a stuck in the rocks. Finally have hitting it a few more times with my fire shout, the dragon moved away from me and disappeared. Well that gave me enough room to fast travel back to the same town just to find my prey was dead on the side of the hill below the rocks it sat on.

No epic music, no fanfare of any kind...

I collected it's scales, bones and most importantly, it's soul. But I felt robbed! That isn't the way those fights should happen...

After that, I seek out the Steward and he has a bounty for a dragon on a mountaintop somewhere. Great! Time for some sweet redemption! But this also brings up my short tale of a frost troll (or three), who are the same as the bastard pictured at the top of this writing.

Long story short, my bloody smart companion (who won't just follow me as I scale mountains I'm sure I shouldn't be climbing), she runs through some sort of temple area and grabs the attention of a frost troll. To make matters worse, she felt it be a great plan to shoot another one just for kicks!

Yeah... well be both died for that one.

Following that, I retrace my steps and I don't bother trying to find my little friend and I actually find the steps to this alter where the dragon awaits. As I magically crossed the side of the mountain, I had gotten the attention of the dragon I sought and it took to the skies and blasted me and who knows what else as it made pass after pass.

Now I finally get to a clearing and rush up the stairs in hopes that the dragon will land and I'll be able to hack into the bastard myself. All was going to plan, until the dragon crashed into the side of the mountain and got stuck.

Why me?

So now I have a dragon stuck on the side of a mountain, a companion who does not mountain climb and me having to go down the side to try and finish this fight myself. It didn't take much to do that by this point, but upon defeating this dragon it fell off the side of the mountain and went plummeting down. Did I want to risk losing it? Not to mention it's valuable bones and scales? Hell no!

And so I give chase, carefully (or so I thought) moving down the side I guess I took a wrong step and went falling down after the dead dragon. Now we're both dead...

To say that this morning wasn't as glorious as I had wanted would be an understatement. Yes I did reload and finally killed the dragon without dying myself. Got a new shout in the process and another soul to unlock more powers with. Live and die and learn I guess is the motto of the day...
