I haven't been playing DC Universe Online that much recently, but all things considered, I thought that things should only be getting better as time went on. I mean isn't this how these things work? MMO gets released, problems are found and solutions and fixes get rid of the bugs and makes everything nice and pretty. Now today I finally get some free time to play and what do I find upon log in?
Nothing.
I can't log my character in as I am apparently the 200th person in line just waiting to get onto the server. Is this even suppose to happen these days? I've played through a couple of MMOs in my time and I've never run into this problem before. Then again, this is the first time I've played a MMO at it's launch, so I suppose that might be the case? I just never expected to be left waiting in line like this to log in and play. What makes this even more surprising to me is the server my villain is on has only a medium population, but I guess that is just too much to process?
I am a little disappointed by this, but I guess this just means I'll have more time to play Torchlight instead. I also know that things like this makes me wonder if I should even extend my subscription beyond the 30 day free trial. I really don't want to spend $15 to end up waiting in line to play a game. Call me inpatient, but this sort of thing just does not sit well with me.

Shattered Reality
![]() | ||
| Soul |
First off, I did rather like the character creation process at the start of all this madness. But like with most games with such options, I always wished there was just MORE options to choose from. More costumes options, more powers, etc, etc, etc. But setting aside the mad creator in me, the choices available are a pretty decent line up and everyone running or flying about do look unique as far as I've seen.
Of the 3 mobilities options, I've tried flight and acrobatics and I'd chose flight without question. It is just damn fun to be able to take off and just fly up, up and away! If timed right, it does have the potential to save your ass if you ever get outnumbered (happens to me fairly often). As for acrobatics, I just don't find that all that fun or interesting and I think it looks kind of weird... maybe that improves as you level up (that character, a hero, is only at level 3).
One odd option that surprised me was the choice to be able to choose a default appearance for your hero or villain. It was unexpected, but welcomed because I kind of wondered why I spent so much time on this guy's appearance and maybe 5-10 minutes in, it all changed?! But this way, you can pick and chose what you'd like your character to appear wearing.
The selection of powers seem OK, but I am still getting used to the regular attacks. Those attacks are done by different combination of mouse clicks, which is kind of weird for me and I can't say I care for it when I am being pounded and can't get the right move off to save my life.
As for the social aspect, I haven't tried to find a league nor have I tried to form my own. The one thing that I hate about games like MMOs is having to rely on others to do missions. I don't really have any friends playing these games, so usually that does mean I'm pretty screwed if I ever wish to do more then just the basic quests and such. But as I always tend to do, I will try to solo through this game as far as I can go and see how far I can get before I get burnt out and never really want to play this thing again.
All in all though, I have been enjoying myself for the most part and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. It will be interesting to see where the game is taken in the coming weeks, with the inevitable patches and updates that will be dropping in.

Evil Soul
Here is a screen shot of my evil villain, Soul, in DC Universe Online. As for my thoughts on the game so far, I will be back a little later with those. I'm presently exploring and clearing some missions, which aren't all that bad from what I've seen so far. Also seems like there aren't as many people running about so far, which I suppose should be a good thing rather then having a lagging mass of digital beings all around.

Which Universe To Chose?

| PS3 or PC? |
I am just wracking my brains over this, I can't believe how tough a choice this actual is becoming! I don't even what to think about what my hero (or villain) will be like when I do pick a system for this game. I've read up about the types of choices you can make for your character and I am damn near drooling over the possibilities of what could be from what I've seen.
Just a couple of hours longer and this whole mess will be done and over with, one way or another.

Who Do You Trust?
If this video is any indication of the type of story that is involved with the upcoming DC Universe Online, considering me very, very interested. I especially liked the twist at the end, which makes me wonder how it'll translate into the game. Double crosses galore perhaps?
My only trouble now is trying to figure out if this would be a smarter idea to pick up on PS3 or PC. The simplest solution would obviously be for PC, but I haven't been able to really find out if my computer will be able to handle this game. I've run a test or two and it would appear as though that it does at least meet the minimum requirements. But if a game is bright and pretty like, then that is what I'd like to see... or else I'd be a disgruntled individual.
As for my PS3, well that is the next best option for me since upgrade my graphics card would be out of the question. But I do already have a tiny little dilemma about that idea. As I have a 80 gig PS3, I've spent up most of that and only have about 25 gigs left on it. Now thanks to this game, I would likely be out of HDD space thanks to this game's massive install (been reading its about 15-20 gigs).
Choices, always choices...
