"Macho Man" Randy Savage During His Wrestling Career

This is ultimately 3 days after the fact, but I still feel like it is something that I need to mention. Last Friday, legendary pro wrestler "Macho Man" Randy Savage (real name Randall Mario Poffo) passed away at the age of 58. The cause of death is still under investigation at this point. There are many reports stating that he suffered at heart attack while driving, lost control of the vehicle, jumped over a median and crashed into a tree. His wife suffered some injuries, but is at least physically okay.

It is sad to see another death in pro wrestling, especially a guy that was as entertaining and talented as the "Macho Man." He is one of the few guys in the wrestling business who could truly be as convincing good guy, as he can be a bad guy. And while I was too young to remember his legendary matches from then WWF, I do remember seeing what he could do while he was in WCW and those matches will always stand out in my mind whenever I think of Randy Savage.

One thing that I was always surprised about is how he never made a real comeback to wrestling after leaving WCW many years ago. Most of the other veterans from yesteryear have all generally kept wrestling or are still involved somewhere, such as Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. 

But then it had to have been for the best, by this I mean Savage not returning to the ring. I mean the man seemed content (again, most guys almost never can stay away from the ring for very long) and even got married just barely a year ago this month.

Another irreplaceable character gone, another man that will never be forgotten. Macho Madness will live forever!

Heartbreaking

A picture of the devastation that I think I've seen a dozen times over by now. Even still, it is a heartbreaking sight to behold.

 It is just absolutely heartbreaking, hearing the news about what is being called the most powerful earthquake to ever hit Japan. It is crazy how they've been hit with quite a few aftershocks as well, some of those were nothing to scoff at either. But what is even sadder yet was to hear about how these folks had next to no chance to even evacuate before the tsunami hit. I cannot even imagine how life must be like to those who've survived this series of disasters.

We spent quite a number of hours following what was happening not just over in Japan, but also here at home as well. I tried to keep up, but I finally backed away about 8:00 this morning because I just don't want to see or read anymore. Watching the reports about how officials over there are finding hundreds of bodies in the flood waters was just too much for me.

My heart goes out to all those who've been affected by these disasters. I hope they will find the strength to pick up the pieces and move on with their lives in time.

Leslie Nielsen R.I.P.

Such a sad revelation to find out that Leslie Nielsen passed away yesterday afternoon. I don't think my kid years would have been the same without the Naked Gun movies and I still think he was awesome in Surf Ninjas. Rest in peace sir...

Brittany Murphy

So I sat down tonight and was browsing about the internet when a story of particular interest caught my eye. An actress has passed away? Intrigue overtook my interests and I clicked the link to see what has happened today. What I read surprised me as it was someone I wouldn't even have thought would be gone.

Brittany Murphy, known for movies such as Sin City and 8 Mile, died today at the age of 32.

It is sad in a way, to hear about yet another famous person dead and gone and at such a young age. I have read some articles that say she had a drug problem, which it is unfortunate that she had not sought help to control. Death, it would seem, was the price of such oversight.

Rest in peace...

What The...?

Michael Jackson passes away and people everywhere are sad and mourning...

Why is this such major news right now?

Now don't get me wrong, it is sad to hear about the passing of someone as famous as Michael Jackson. He influenced a great deal of things during his life, no question about that. But if I'm not mistaken, didn't a great deal of people spend a lot of time cracking a lot of jokes about Michael Jackson and little boys? And didn't a lot of people in this world hate him so bad because of the things he was accused of?

And yet all of those issues don't matter anymore. Now it is all said and done, a non-issue as it goes these days. Now people are crying and feeling sad over this guy's death. Listen to the radio or watch some TV and you'll notice: the jokes about him are gone away! Because NOW he's a hero! Oh and NOW he was such a great and positive influence huh? What a turn around!

To top it all off, this ends up being all over these major news networks! Was he really THAT big of a deal? I mean sure he was in the process of making a comeback, but didn't he try (and fail) to do this a few years ago? If I remember correctly, he released a CD and then was nailed with yet another child molestation charge.

What I wonder is this: Could it hurt to maybe focus on some real issues? Like North Korea and their ever increasing desire to nuke us all back to the ice age? Or how about the insanity that is going on over in Iran?

Nah, that stuff is old news now! So yesterday! While yes, North Korea could blow us all up, but come on! Michael Jackson just died! And since everyone and their mom is snapping up all of his music and everything in between, you gotta know that news coverage of him will equal a fuckton of ratings! And what does ratings equal?! MONEY!

So while we wait for someone aboard one of those US ships in the Pacific to lay an ungodly fart, which will then set off the North Koreans as they will swear they were under attack by the US. This, in turn, would gain their one and only response which would be to nuke everything it can possibly reach. Now will we know when this happens?

Nope!

But at least we'll all know that Michael Jackson, at the young age of 50, who was about to make a 50 show comeback in London, has passed away. Then they'll play him and his family performing that ABC song. Again. And again. And again...

Bernie Mac

There are just too many people dying this year and when I heard that Bernie Mac passed away, man that is just too much. I could probably drag this on, but instead I'll keep it short and simple.

I loved his brand of comedy and I respect the honest of what the man had to say. And he wasn't bad an actor either, I always wished he got a bigger part in all of the Ocean's movies. What else can I say? He will be missed, but never, ever forgotten...
