My Hands
This song, "My Hands" by Leona Lewis, has been chosen to be the main theme song for Final Fantasy XIII. Well, at least in the US and UK as far as I know of. Perhaps they used this song for the Japan release as well, just translated over to Japanese?
Anyway...
Personally I am on the fence as far as this song is concerned and just off of hearing it for the first time, I have to agree with what some people are saying. While this song is pretty good, but a main theme song for Final Fantasy? That one is slightly in question, at least in my mind right now.
But I am not going to just write it off, not until I see for myself where and how this song is used. I mean this is Square we're talking about here and from past experiences, they usually don't disappoint when it comes down to emotional and meaningful moments in their Final Fantasy games.
I just hope that statement will remain true, once this game sees release here in the States.

The theme song for the Japanese release is completely different. This is a new thing for Square Enix. Personally, I'm not too happy about it, but I'm one of those Japanese-with-English-subtitles-snob kind of people...lol. It's not like this will keep me from buying it or anything. I'm a Final Fantasy fan before anything else, so Square Enix can rest easy, knowing that they will get my money. ;-)
Here's the Japanese song:

I was a little disappointed, hearing how they were going with a English song. I actually really liked how they left in the Japanese songs, they are easily some of my favorite video game related music. But like you, I will still go ahead and buy FFXIII. Its like a drug addiction I suppose. I cannot imagine going past March and continue gaming without getting it.
By the way, is this the same song?

I tried to follow the link you left, but it said something about a malformed video. And is it a bad thing when I see malformed, I think Darkspawn? Hmm..
Yup, same song. ^_^
Ah.
Yes, yes... I suppose now I really am disappointed. I like the Japanese song! It feels like Final Fantasy or should I say it sounds like it. Maybe I am just used to the norm, maybe too used to for my own good.
